Supplier of the month: Dani’s Bees

On May 4, 2022

There seems to be buzz in the air as we enter May and that must mean one thing – the bees are back!

Since spring is a key season for bee pollination, it’s fitting that our Supplier of the Month series continues with a Scottish honey producer. Better yet, an Aberdeenshire honey producer – Dani’s Bees.

The story so far

Dani started her beekeeping journey back in 2016 whilst searching for some extra pollination for her polytunnel plants. She became fascinated with honey bees during a beekeeping for beginners course where she learned the craft.

She bought her first colony of bees in 2018 from Crathes Castle and made a beeline to build her hive of products.

Dani has apiaries all across south Aberdeenshire with locations in Fettercairn, Fasque, Cairn O’Mount and more. How’s that for local honey?

Our buzz about bees

Did you know that a third of the world’s food production depends on bee pollination? That’s every third spoonful of food.

Sustainability is key for us here at Castleton Farm and we’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment. And bees play a big part in helping us do that.

Bee pollination helps plants grow, breed and produce food – basically they keep the ecosystem moving. It’s this natural pollination that helps us grow our delicious strawberries, raspberries and fruit. Consider that a big hive-five from us (sorry, couldn’t resist).
