The news is out: we’ve been shortlisted in the best eating experience category in the 2023 Aberdeen City and Shire Thistle Awards.
And it’s a hat-trick of nominations. We’re also a finalist in the tourism and hospitality employer of the year category, and our very own Anna Mitchell is up as tourism individual of the year.
We’ll have to wait until Friday September 22 to find out the winners but in the meantime, we’re certainly in good company.
Best eating experience
The best eating experience recognises restaurants and eateries that provide an exceptional customer experience and a warm Scottish welcome. They have to have sustainability at their heart, with a responsible approach to food sourcing and waste, and strive to support the local community.
Also nominated is Amuse by Kevin Dalgleish, the Peartree Coffee House and Bistro and Tarragon by Graham Mitchell.
And as an employer, we’re also up against some stiff competition, in the shape of the Aberdeen Altens Hotel and Leonardo Hotels Aberdeen. This category celebrates employers who have demonstrated a real commitment to the welfare of their employees, providing a supportive and inspiring work environment.
Agri-tourism
And finally there’s Anna, who acts as an ambassador for change within the industry, showcasing a commitment to tourism as a force for good, especially through her work in Scottish agri-tourism.
We know she always goes above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service, and prioritises inclusivity, sustainability, community and responsible practices. Her fellow finalists are Ian Pithie from the Gordon Highlanders Museum, Alison Christie from Leonardo Hotels and Alan Findlater from Luxe Scot.
We appreciate being recognised for our high standards and commitment to customer service, but to be honest we also love to see this celebration of the amazing businesses in the region. It’s a great thing to recognise and reward excellence across the industry in the North-east.
So good luck to all our fellow finalists and thank you to all of you who have wished us well. We have our fingers crossed and roll on the awards in September!
