Imagine this: plump, juicy blueberries bursting with flavour in every bite. That’s what you get with Castleton Farm blueberries, grown right here in Aberdeenshire.
But why choose Scottish blueberries, especially ours?
Freshness you can taste
Forget blueberries that travel for miles. Ours are picked at their peak, meaning you get a taste explosion of summer with every mouthful. Plus, all that freshness means they’re packed with nutrients – a win for your taste buds and your body.
Supporting local
When you choose Castleton Farm blueberries, you’re choosing a local farm. This keeps money flowing in the community and reduces those food miles. Fewer miles mean a smaller carbon footprint, which is good for you, good for the planet.
Seasonal superstars
We know you can’t get enough of these tasty treats, and our harvest runs from mid-July all the way to the end of October. So you’re getting the real deal, bursting with seasonal goodness when they’re naturally at their most delicious and nutritious.
What sets our blueberries apart is the quality of the fruit. The alternatives on the supermarket shelves might be imported because a lot of blueberries are. But the UK – and especially the Scottish – season extends right from September through October and that’s when they’re at their absolute prime.
Tiny powerhouse
People love blueberries for their vibrant colour, sweet yet tart flavour and delicious smell. But don’t let their size fool you: blueberries are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These little guys can help boost your overall health, potentially improving your heart, brain, and even helping manage blood sugar.
Blueberries are a versatile fruit and can be eaten at any mealtime. Kids love them, they’re so good for you, are very snackable and are the ultimate superfood. They also add a bold punch of vibrancy to any smoothie or baked dessert and are packed with vitamins and healthful antioxidants.
Our story
We’ve been growing delicious fruit here since 1992. We were early adopters of undercover growing (those fancy polytunnels) back in 2000, and in 2005, we became blueberry pioneers, planting one of the first blueberry plantations in Scotland. Talk about forward-thinking…
And being a bit further north than many other soft fruit growers has its perks. The long daylight hours combined with Scotland’s cooler climate means our blueberries ripen slowly, developing even more sugars for an unmatched sweetness.
So next time you’re looking for blueberries, skip the long-distance travellers and choose Scottish, choose local, choose Castleton Farm.
You’ll be supporting your community, enjoying a taste of summer, and getting a burst of delicious, healthy goodness in every bite!
