Castleton strawberries: a Scottish summer favourite

On June 30, 2026

There’s nothing quite like a proper Scottish strawberry when summer rolls around – and Castleton strawberries are right up there.

Castleton strawberries on the plantGrown in Aberdeenshire, near Laurencekirk, they’re sweet, juicy and ready to steal the show, whether you’re piling them into a bowl, pairing them with cream for Wimbledon, or turning them into a dessert worth talking about.

You can pick up fresh Castleton strawberries in punnets from our farm shop and café, and you’ll also find them in retailers across the region, including local Scotmid stores.

If you fancy making a bit of a fuss at home, our strawberry tart glaze is a must-try.

Castleton strawberry tartIt’s made with real fruit, packed with natural flavour, and contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Basically, it’s the easy way to make pudding look like you’ve gone to far more effort than you actually have.

Prefer to let someone else do the baking? Even better.

Pop into the café for a strawberry tart made with our own berries and tart jelly, or grab one to take away for a picnic, a get-together, or that all-important summer “wow” moment when friends or family turn up unexpectedly and you need to impress fast.

Behind the scenes, our strawberries are hand-picked, quality checked, rapidly chilled and packed on site at Castleton Farm.

The long daylight hours and cooler Scottish climate help them ripen slowly, building that beautifully sweet flavour that makes them so special.
