Summer holidays are officially here, and we’ve got two very good reasons to pay us a visit.
First, we’ve reduced the price of our children’s meals thanks to the government’s temporary VAT reduction on qualifying kids’ meals, which runs throughout the summer holiday period. It’s a welcome boost for families and means little diners can enjoy lunch at Castleton for less.
Second – and perhaps even more exciting for food lovers – we’ve refreshed our menu with a mix of brand-new dishes and returning favourites that are perfect for long summer lunches (you can download and take a look at our new menu on our cafe page).
Leading the charge are our new loaded baked potatoes. The Caesar Crispy Chicken Baked Potato is everything a comfort-food lover could want, piled high with breaded chicken, bacon, Parmesan and Caesar dressing. Meanwhile, the Peppered Steak Loaded Baked Potato brings together tender Scotch beef, creamy peppercorn sauce and crispy onions for a seriously satisfying lunch.
For something a little lighter, our new Warm Goat’s Cheese & Blackberry Salad is summer on a plate. Sweet blackberries, roasted beetroot and sliced apple are brought together with our own Castleton blackberry, bay leaf and lime vinegar before being topped with warm goat’s cheese. Fresh, colourful and packed with flavour, it’s a great showcase for the berries we’re famous for.
We’ve also welcomed a new Fish Fillet Ciabatta to the menu. Think crispy battered haddock tucked into a chewy toasted ciabatta with lettuce, tomato, gherkins and tartare sauce, served with chips, salad and coleslaw. It’s messy in the best possible way.

Then there’s The Berry Burger – a dish that feels uniquely Castleton. A juicy Scotch beef burger is topped with cheese, bacon, crispy onions and our signature berry relish, delivering that perfect balance of savoury comfort with a little fruity kick. It’s quickly becoming a favourite with the team.
And because some classics deserve a comeback, we’re delighted to welcome back our much-loved Ploughman’s Board. Loaded with cheddar, brie, sliced ham, Wark Farm pork pie, Castleton chutney, sourdough bread and plenty of traditional accompaniments, it’s ideal for grazing your way through a lazy summer afternoon. The ever-popular Wark Farm pork pie is also back as a solo dish and we’re very happy to see it return.
Of course, no summer visit is complete without something sweet. Alongside our homemade cakes, you can cool off with a Castleton Berry Smoothie, a refreshing Berry Refresher or our Berry Blend Ice Cream, made using berries grown right here on the farm.
So whether you’re taking advantage of lower-priced kids’ meals, catching up with friends over lunch or simply looking for an excuse to try something new, now feels like the perfect time to pull up a chair at Castleton Farm.
